*cheers* Oh my gosh, this is so totally beautiful... @_@ I love moths anyway and I'm somewhat familiar with the Saturnidae family, but I have to say I've never seen one of these before and can hardly believe how gorgeous it is! I think it might be the most beautiful species I've ever seen... the wings truly do look like stained glass windows! I guess this individual is a male?

Anyway thanks so much for sharing, I really love this!

It's a very scarce moth.
You're right, it's sometimes called "Papillon-vitrail", that means "stained-glass moth" :-)

Wow! Now that is a seriously beautiful moth!

I love those "whiskers" too. :D Sorry, I'm really poor with insects of any kind, probably because most species we have around here are just annoying and not very beautiful .. ;)

I must look through my book showing all European butterflies tonight. :) I hope it's listed in there but I'm not sure, I didn't recognise it from just seeing it at least.

Ever a stunning species and you have my envy to be sure. Sadly, this was among the many species that the USDA denied when I submitted our permit to import so for now all I can do is watch in awe.
